Each school year, after the tragic events of 9/11 students at Western High School have come together to pay homage to the thousands who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. A student constructed memorial was first designed and dedicated to this date in 2002, and has continued to serve as a symbol for Western High students to hold the promise ceremony “We Will Never Forget.” The monument is a reproduction of the Twin Towers, surrounded by the Pentagon, with a flagpole placed in the outline of the state of Pennsylvania. This year, local fire departments, Davie Police and the Broward Sheriff’s Office will participate in the Observance Ceremony with Western’s JROTC, choral singers, band and Student Government Association.
