Anti-Bullying Community Forum: A Call to Action
Friday, November 14, 2014
6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Parkway Middle School
3600 NW 5th Court
Lauderhill, FL 33311
School Board member Dr. Rosalind Osgood will meet with the Broward County community to encourage dialogue and offer solutions surrounding the principles of bullying. Dr. Osgood will engage the community, parents and students through stimulating conversations around making Broward County a bully-free zone.

In addition, Nova High School will perform the musical, “The Weight of Words,” written and produced by its theater students. This is a powerful piece of trans-disciplinary theater that explores every aspect of the bullying issue - from students, to principals, communities, the United States Congress and to the world.

Broward County was the first school district in Florida to approve an anti-bullying policy. Thanks to the District’s Prevention Programs and Student Support Initiatives, and Safe Schools Healthy Students Grant initiative, the Florida Department of Education has utilized it as a model for the other 66 school districts within the state.
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is the sixth largest public school system in the United States and the second largest in the state of Florida. BCPS is Florida’s first fully accredited school system since 1962. BCPS has over 260,000 students and approximately 175,000 adult students in 237 schools, centers and technical colleges, and 100 charter schools. BCPS serves a diverse student population. Students are from 204 different countries and speak 135 different languages.
