BCPS Students Reach Out to Needy Families During the Holiday Season

Friday, November 18, 2016
For the 24nd consecutive year, Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) students, parents and community supporters have joined Harvest Drive, Inc. to help needy families during the holiday season. The Harvest Drive is a yearlong project culminating in a charitable event involving schools across the District every Thanksgiving.

“Children Helping Children” is the theme of this year’s Harvest Drive event, with over 200 Broward schools hosting efforts to reach the goal of providing 2,400 families (over 10,000 Broward residents) with Thanksgiving dinner.

Students led the charge to collect non-perishable food and other donations for the Harvest Drive. High school clubs collected large quantities of food donations from Publix and Wal-Mart supermarkets throughout the county. Community businesses, corporations, civic organizations, Parent Teacher Associations, volunteer organizations and individual donors are provided monetary donations to purchase perishable food and gift cards.
