Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) Procurement and Warehousing Services Department will host a Construction Services Business Opportunity Trade Fair on Thursday, October 30, 2014, from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.,
at the TSSC Annex, 7770 W Oakland Park Blvd., Sunrise.
Construction services businesses – small and large – are invited to attend this free event to learn about current and future contracting opportunities, and how to become a pre-qualified contractor. Businesses will also receive information on how to become certified as a Minority and Women Business Enterprise (M/WBE).
“Our School Board policy requires and encourages prime construction contractors, and architectural and engineering contractors to subcontract their School District contracts to M//WBEs,” said Superintendent Robert W. Runcie. “Having a pool of qualified M/WBEs and firms to work with helps prime contractors meet that expectation. We’re excited to present this opportunity to our business community.”
The trade fair will bring together prime and small businesses, and minority and women businesses from across South Florida to meet, network and learn about upcoming business opportunities. Participants will also meet School District department leaders and decision-makers from procurement, facilities and construction, operations and risk management areas who will discuss projects and proposed changes in doing business with BCPS, which will provide a more business-friendly experience for all segments of the construction services business community.
District staff will provide information and answer questions about projects that are current and listed in the District Educational Facilities Plan, including roofing, HVAC, fire alarm, fire sprinklers and a host of renovation projects.
The District invites the business community to take advantage of this opportunity to network and connect with BCPS and prime contractors for subcontractor opportunities. Refreshments will be provided, courtesy of the culinary students at Atlantic Technical College and Technical High School. To register for this event, email your RSVP to email@example.com or fax to 754-321-0533. Space is limited. For additional information, contact Colleen M. Robbs, at 754-321-0505
