Today, Tuesday, November 21, 2017, The School Board of Broward County, Florida, elected Nora Rupert as Chair and Heather P. Brinkworth as Vice Chair. The nominations and election took place during the School Board’s Annual Organizational Meeting.
Nora Rupert was first elected in 2010 to represent District 7 and re-elected in 2014. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from Florida Southern College and is a graduate of the Star Program at Florida Atlantic University for alternative education certification. She is also a former Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) high school reading teacher.
Heather P. Brinkworth has represented District 3 since 2014, after being appointed by Governor Rick Scott and then subsequently elected to the position. She was re-elected in 2016. She graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor’s degree in English and is a former reading teacher in Broward County Public Schools.
