Broward County’s 28th Annual Arts Teacher of the Year Award Ceremony held on November 6 at Broward Center for the Performing Arts, showcased Broward's talented and celebrated winners in arts education.
Congratulations to Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) outstanding arts educators who were named winners in three of the four arts categories.
John Nista – Music, Ramblewood Middle School
Jason Zembuch – Theater, South Plantation High
Keri Porter – Visual Arts, Wingate Oaks Center
BCPS finalists for the excellence in arts awards in the four categories (dance, theater, music and visual arts) were also recognized at the event.
Aimee Sangster, Dance, New Renaissance Middle School

Matthias Hubsch – Music, Forest Glen Middle School

Daniel Slowik – Theater, Falcon Cove Middle School

Michelle Terl – Theater, Parkway Middle School of the Arts
Alison Eager – Visual Arts, Seminole Middle School
Wendi Librach – Visual Arts, Flamingo Elementary School
The Broward County Arts Teacher of the Year Ceremony also provided an opportunity for Broward’s talented arts students to gain valuable experience performing in a high quality, professional performing arts institution.  South Broward High School senior Jennifer Luechauer enchanted the audience with a soothing, folksy, classical flute number, followed by Parkway Middle School of the Arts eight grade theater major Davion Jones, who silenced the audience with a powerful solo vocal performance.
The Arts Teacher of the Year Award Ceremony is provided through a partnership among Broward Cultural Division, The School Board of Broward County, Florida, Broward Center for the Performing Arts and Business for the Arts of Broward.
Sponsors included Florida Power & Light, AutoNation, BBX Capital, Broward College, Gibraltar Private Bank and Trust, Kopelowitz Ostrow Ferguson Weiselberg Keechl, Publix Super Market Charities and Cruise Voyant.
