Wednesday, April 29, 2015
Congratulations to Cypress Bay High School senior Marianne T. Aguilar, on being named a 2015 National Merit Scholar by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. More than 1,000 distinguished high school seniors have won corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship awards financed by about 200 corporations, company foundations and other business organizations.
Aguilar is the recipient of a National Merit Motorola Solutions $2,500 Scholarship. She plans to pursue studies and a career in medicine.
“We are proud of Marianne and all of our dedicated and hard working students,” said Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Robert W. Runcie. “We congratulate her and her family on this outstanding accomplishment.”
Scholars were selected from students who advanced to the Finalists level in the National Merit Scholarship competition and met criteria of their scholarship sponsors. Corporate sponsors provide National Merit Scholarships for Finalists who are children of their employees, who are residents of communities the company serves, or who plan to pursue college majors or careers the sponsor wishes to encourage.
