Inaugural Diversity Conference – “Equity in Action”

Creating a better understanding of similarities and differences among cultures, ethnicities and races will be the focus of the inaugural Diversity Conference presented by Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) Diversity, Prevention & Intervention Department. “Equity in Action” takes place Friday and Saturday, October 23 – 24, 2015, at Nova Southeastern University, 3301 College Avenue, Davie, from 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

The purpose of the two-day conference is to create culturally progressive and socially reflective schools and communities that represent, support and celebrate diversity at all levels. Sessions will focus on building awareness and creating empowerment.

Student participation and performances include “Weight of Words,” a short musical play focusing on bullying by Nova High School students and Breaking Barriers through poetry by students with Bluapple Poetry Network.

The conference is free and open to educators, school leaders, parents, students and community members.
