February is National Teen Dating Violence and Prevention Month. The Rally will promote teen dating violence awareness education and support for teens faced with abusive relationships, as well as others who may provide support for victims.
Thursday, February 25, 2016, from 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
1901 NW 49th Avenue
Lauderhill, FL 33313
It’s estimated that one in three teens will experience an abusive relationship, but only 33 percent will ever tell someone about it. Females between the ages of 16 and 24 experience the highest ratio of intimate partner violence – triple the national average. Additionally, violent behavior often begins between the ages of 12 and 18. The long lasting effects of violent relationships on victims can include higher risk for substance abuse, eating disorders, risky sexual behavior and further domestic violence. Lauderhill 6-12 STEM-MED has collaborated with Women in Distress and Lauderhill Police Department to raise awareness about teen dating violence and provide services to support victims and their loved ones.
