School Board Approves Opening and Closing School Times for 2015/16 School Year

Thursday, March 19, 2015
The School Board of Broward County, Florida, approved new opening and closing times for 18 schools for the 2015/16 school year. The changes reflect bell time adjustments at 12 elementary schools, five middle schools and one high school. For most schools, changes range from five to 10-minute differences in start and dismissal times.
Each year, the Transportation Department conducts a review and evaluation of its services to ensure that appropriate resources are in place to meet transportation needs, and compensate for student and program growth. This year’s review also considered opportunities to increase the quality and level of service being provided by improving routing efficiencies.
“Our Transportation Team utilized new tools and technology to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to continually improve school bus service for our students and schools,” said Superintendent Robert W. Runcie. “These small adjustments in bell times will help us to meet this goal.”
The School Board also approved the opening and closing times schedule for all District schools and centers for the 2015/16 school year.
