Assistant Principal's Message
Dear Sandpiper Families,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to another wonderful school year at Sandpiper Elementary. I look forward to becoming partners as we share in the education and development of your child(ren). I am excited and enthusiastic as we approach this school year which promises to bring exciting and rewarding experiences for all.
At Sandpiper, our students are properly prepared to be 21st Century thinkers using critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication to develop their decision-making and problem solving skills. Using inquiry-based learning and rigorous content, our educators challenge all students to explore real-world problems and engage in meaningful learning.
The teachers and administrative team hold the highest standards for all students at Sandpiper. High expectations for student respect, responsibility, and integrity help create a positive learning environment where all students feel enthusiastic about their school experiences. It is our goal that each child will reach their greatest potential both academically and behaviorally, along with being fully prepared for success in college and in their career.
The most effective behavior management technique is the easiest to implement -"catching 'em being good". Research shows us that the quickest and most effective way to promote the display of appropriate behaviors are to reward students. Our school will continue to implement this year a cafeteria reward system called Caught Being Good. Students will have their efforts acknowledged by earning a coin by following cafeteria rules and displaying proper manners. It's human nature to show behaviors that bring benefits to us. It is also human nature to like and want to please people who recognize our efforts. Students will be able to shop at our school reward store every Friday of the month with coins they earn in the cafeteria or have a class ice pop celebration.
As a member of your school community, I am excited to support your families in preparing your child at Sandpiper for success. My office door is always open. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns. Thank you for choosing to be a part of our community ofexcellence at Sandpiper Elementary. It is going to be a great year.
