Stirling Elementary is dedicated to student achievement and believes that all children can learn. Therefore, we welcome the opportunity to enhance student learning through the use of our Title I funds.
The Title I program at Stirling Elementary welcomes parent involvement by offering them parent workshops/training nights and involving them in decisions regarding their child’s education. Working together on our ultimate goal of ensuring student success, parents and teachers work as a community to help build, encourage, and create an environment that is conducive to learning, both in and out of the classroom.
The Title I Mobile Van, available to our parents and students, provides educational and life skills resources that enhance knowledge and promotes success.
According to the U.S. Department of Education the purpose of Title I funding, “is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.”
The basic principles of Title I state that schools with large concentrations of low-income students will receive supplemental funds to assist in meeting student’s educational goals. Low-income students are determined by the number of students enrolled in the free and reduced lunch program. For an entire school to qualify for Title 1 funds, at least 52% of students must enroll in the free and reduced lunch program.
