Welcome to the Grades Page!
The technical jargon of school grades can be complicated sometimes. Like any other language, it makes sense once you pick it up, but it can be tricky to learn. Here’s a bit of explanation that might make it seem a little clearer.
What is a Grade Point Average?
Grade Point Average (GPA) is an average of the grade point values that you have earned for the credit courses you have taken while a student at Hollywood Hills High School.
Semester Grade Point Average. This is the average of the grade point values that you have earned for all courses you have attempted in a semester.
Cumulative Grade Point Average. This is the average of the grade point values for all of the credit courses you have attempted while at Hollywood Hills, including repeated courses.
Courses are broken down into parts called semesters. Semester grades determine whether the course is passed and credit is earned. Each semester grade is made up of three grades: two quarter grades and the exam grade.
2 out of 3 is a Must!
To receive a passing grade for the semester, the student must earn a passing grade in: One quarter grading period and the semester examination or both Quarter Grading Periods.
Students can use a GPA calculator to determine their present high school grade point average, determine what their GPA is likely to be in the future, or calculate the grades they will have to earn in order to raise their GPA to a target goal. Click below to use the calculator.
