Assistant Principal's Message
Dana M. Thomson, Assistant Principal
Dear Tamarac Community Members and Families,
I want to warmly welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year. It is my sincere pleasure and honor to be able to assist Roberta Ray in making this a great school year and support the mission and vision of Tamarac Elementary School. I have 16 years experience in education having worked as a general education classroom teacher, education specialist, ESE teacher, ESE specialist, and as an administrator. My passion for life-long learning and a dedication to ensuring the success of ALL children is what keeps me in education.
Tamarac Elementary administration and staff take pride in providing a safe environment where students are supported emotionally, physically, and academically. It is my strong desire to see every student confident in their ability to attempt all tasks laid before them in a supportive inclusive environment Each day in classrooms, you will see students challenged and motivated through rigorous, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences. We are committed to providing a well-rounded educational experience that will prepare students to be College and Career Ready and 21st Century Digital Citizens.
Tamarac Elementary aims to provide every student with unique experiences relevant to the real world through interdisciplinary instruction and the use of technology. All community stakeholder input is welcome and will help ensure our students participate in high interest, self-motivating academic instruction. Research has shown students who have opportunities to lead their own learning and are actively engaged in debate, scientific investigations, and action research projects tend to have better grades, school attendance, cognitive performance (memory), and better classroom behavior. This type of instruction helps every student reach their full potential. I look forward to working collaboratively with community members and families in order to achieve the highest level of student success.
