After School Program
The mission of our Before and/or After School Child Care program is to provide students with:
- An inclusive child care program which is safe and nurturing in a comfortable environment.
- A cultural enriching program which promotes the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of each child.
- A program that meets the highest quality of child care standards.
Currently there are over 21,000 children being served in 184 Before and/or After School Child Care Programs throughout the District. Programs are provided at elementary schools, some middle schools and all centers. These are either School Board operated or are operated by a Private Provider. The principal, in collaboration with the School Advisory Council (SAC), will select the provider for each location.
Your child will have the opportunity to have a snack, do their homework with assistance and then participate in several scheduled activities. These will include an academic enhancement, a technology session, creative play or dramatic arts, outdoor activity to enhance fitness and a freechoice.
