Assistant Principals' Message
6th Grade Assistant PrincipalIt is my pleasure to serve as your 6th Grade Administrator at James S. Rickards Middle School. I am also the administrator who oversees the Math and Science curricula. As a proud Broward County School graduate, hailing from Boyd Anderson High School, I understand what it takes to be successful in our school system. My elementary and middle school background in classroom instruction, coaching and administration gives me the opportunity to meet the individual needs of my 6th grade students as they transition into the next phase of their learning career.Education is the vehicle to which opportunities are open for all. At Rickards Middle School we thrive on ensuring that ALL students are provided with the tools they need to be successful. This year it is even more important as we enter the virtual way of learning. Together with our teacher leaders, our administration and leadership teams have assembled a virtual learning space in all content areas to support all learners with reaching their highest potential and to be successful as we navigate through our new normal. Rickards will continue to offer the same competitive curriculum that we have been for our students including classes in our Cambridge Academy, Environmental Sciences and high school courses including Biology Honors and Algebra Honors. In addition to the grade level administrator, our school offers many levels of support including Guidance Counseling, School Social Worker, Exceptional Student Learning Support (ESLS) and English Language Learner support (ELL) and curriculum coaches. Please do not hesitate to reach out and contact the school should you require assistance from one of the above mentioned staff. We are here to provide any and all services to our students and families that will support the community and positively impact their lives. As always, I am here to help in any way possible. Please do not hesitate to reach out should you have any questions or feedback. Looking forward to a great year!We Are Better Together! Rickards Middle... Many Cultures, One Community.Warm Regards,Ms. DiasDr. Kwan Drake7th Grade Assistant PrincipalDear Parent & Students:
I am pleased to welcome you to the 2018-19 school year! The focus for this year is to expect excellence for every child everyday. As an instructional leader, I have the good fortune of working closely with our principal, Dr. Washington Collado and our Instructional Staff, to provide an environment that is conducive to effective teaching and measured learning for all students. As a result, our students will demonstrate high achievement by making gains in learning in addition to growing in the characteristics of good citizenship. I am inviting all members of the Rickards’ community to continue to take part in our journey to maximize each student’s potential, as it takes a whole village to raise a child.
We will only achieve our goals by working in partnership with all stakeholders, so I encourage you to play a part in your student's education and get involved. Look for regular updates and visit our school website often.
If I can be of assistance to you and your child, please feel free to contact me at (754) 322-4414. I am here to serve and meet the learning needs of the children of our school.Sincerely,
