Broward County Junior Honor Society promotes appropriate recognition for students who reflect accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, character, leadership, citizenship, and service. Seventh and eighth grade students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.65 or above (from TERMS county program) and exemplary behavior are invited to apply to JHS in the third quarter based on 1st and 2nd quarter grades. They are then recommended for membership by their teachers after the third quarter of the school year. Students must submit a personal resume that demonstrates completion of the five areas of recognition as mentioned above (scholarship, character, leadership, citizenship, and service). Resumes are reviewed by the Advisors and students are notified of their acceptance into JHS. Induction Ceremony is held at the end of each school year. Active members of JHS must maintain the standards by which they were selected. The chapter requires that the students maintain a 3.75 GPA and satisfactory of above marks in conduct.
Here at Tequesta we raise thousands of dollars for those in need and help provide service projects for our school and community. We have well over 100 8th grade students with excellent grades and outstanding character. One of our most successful service projects is JHS tutoring. Each Wednesday morning JHS members provide free tutoring to any Tequesta Trace students that may need help. We also raise money for charities such as American Cancer Society, Make A Wish and Unicef.
Each member is required to earn 30 service hours or more for the school year. Regular chapter meetings are held once or twice each month. All members are required to attend the meetings, or bring a written excuse from parents, or guardians. Yearly dues are between $15.00 and $30.00 and often include the JHS shirts. The Tequesta Trace Chapter of Junior Honor Society is a very active student organization. The chapter has earned numerous awards for their school and community related projects. Mr. Scot Piglia and Mrs. Kathleen Dillmeier are the faculty advisors for JHS.

*JHS applications will be available for pick up to all 7th and 8th graders, that meet the academic requirement of 3.65 GPA for the 1st and 2nd quarter of the school year, in the Media Center January 29th-31st. Applications are due no later than Friday, April 6th, 2018. Please bring your completed applications to the Media Center.
