PTSA President's Message

  • From the Desk of Betsy Carter, PTSA President

Hello and a warm welcome to Parents and Guardians of Rickards Middle School students!

My name is Betsy Carter and I am your new Parent Teacher Students Association (PTSA) President. I have two children, one here at Rickards Middle School and one at Floranada Elementary. I am very supportive of both of my children as well as each of their schools.  I am here to help not only my daughter, but also your children and the teachers and staff of Rickards Middle School.  I feel it is important to contribute to the PTSA, most importantly to see that our children excel and also to stand behind many projects that we, as a school, benefit from when volunteering.

By joining PTSA, you help support many of the enrichment programs that Rickards Middle School’s PTSA provides throughout the year.  Rickards Middle School benefits from the support the PTSA has from involved parents, guardians, teachers, staff and community.  It is statistically proven that children who have parents and guardians engaged in their students' school lives are more likely to have higher grades in classes, graduate, and further their education after high school.   The PTSA is made up of a great team of parent, student and teacher volunteers and we are always looking for more help in whatever form that may come.  If you can donate some time, even for small tasks, please contact me at and I would be happy to work with you.

I understand that your time is precious and if you cannot participate in school activities, please still contact me to discuss the numerous other ways you can get involved, including technological support and helping to solicit donations from local businesses, and also, if you yourself have (or know of anyone) who has a business/product you feel would be of benefit to the school.  Please check out the upcoming events by clicking on the PTSA Agenda tab on the left side to see what upcoming events you would like to volunteer for.

I am eager to make this a great school year for the PTSA and I look forward to working with each of you in order to accomplish this goal.

Please feel free to contact me with any ideas, cares, or concerns.

    Betsy Carter
