    Dear Boulevard Heights Elementary Families,

Welcome you back to the 2019-20 school year!

We hope you had an enjoyable summer break filled with new experiences to learn and grow.  Boulevard Heights Elementary teachers and staff have been preparing for an exciting school year ahead. We are sure you are as eager as we are to have them back to create new memories and learning adventures at our school.

We know that teaching children is rewarding, as well as filled challenges that we take on with pride. As always, we will continue to do our best to ensure that each student has a safe and motivating learning experience. However, we cannot do this without your assistance.  We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our students can achieve their personal and academic goals. We recognize that a strong home school partnership ensures each student reaches his/her maximum potential.

The Florida Department of Education recently released school grades and we are pleased to announce that we are now a B-rated school and just a few points away from being an A! We attribute this success to the hard work of our fabulous teachers, students, staff and parents. Our goal this year is to continue this upward trend until we earn the ever so coveted “A” status. We are confident we will achieve our goal this year.

One of Boulevard Heights main goals year after year is to close achievement gaps and increase grade level proficiency. To help accomplish this task, our school provides students in grades 3-5 with differentiated small-group instruction and a personal laptop to supplement their learning. In Kindergarten through Second grade, our school offers research-based programs, such as Fundations and Level Literacy Intervention (LLI) to help students build strong foundational skills. This year, BHE will once again offer computer-based programs, such as i-Ready to help students in reading and math. Furthermore,  i-Ready and School City diagnostic assessments will be used to determine areas of growth and weakness and to monitor student’s progress. What a great way to start the year!!

As always, Mrs. Gonzalez and I have an open-door policy and we welcome you to visit us and tour the school. At Boulevard Heights Elementary our staff is committed to our vision: “WE EXPECT TO SEE GREAT TEACHING AND LEARNING IN EVERY CLASSROOM, EVERYDAY. AS WELL AS A POSITIVE CLASSROOM CULTURE THAT IS CONDUCIVE TO STUDENT SUCCESS”. If you need my assistance, please call us at 754-323-4950 or email us at boulevardheights.browardschools.com.

Mr. Juan Alejo, Principal                                             Mrs. Sylvia Gonzalez, Assistant Principal
