Greetings DBMS Jr. Bucks and Parents:

The 19/20 school year holds a great deal of promise as it is a pivotal year for our Deerfield Beach Middle School (DBMS) Jr. Bucks.  Our team is opening this school year with plans that are intentional, align the learning to the needs of the student and focuses on shifts to move DBMS towards improving our letter grade.  I am all aboard with the implementation of both our new vision and mission statements.  I will do my best to ensure that DBMS is an inclusive IB school.  Our collective ardor will be positioned to assist with the balancing of the educational scales so that all of the DBMS students display their ability to be global thinkers.  DBMS is a great environment to educate your student and I am here to serve our Jr. Bucks with the consistency, respect, and quality that they deserve.

    Sincerely,

Mr. Corey D. Wilson, Intern Principal

    7th Grade Administrator

I’m looking forward to work with the students, parents and faculty as the new 7th grade assistant principal.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a minor in Exceptional Student Education from the University of Miami .

My initial teaching experience took place in Dade County Public Schools working as an ESE teacher.  Thereafter I moved to Torrejon Airbase High School in Spain as a high school guidance counselor.  I earned my  Masters Degree in School Administration from the University of New Orleans and taught Gifted students.  In 1996 I became 7th grade assistant principal at Forest Glen Middle School and have had the privilege to work with 6th, 7th and 8th grade students at Forest Glen and Pompano Beach Middle School.

My personal philosophy about our students is: “We’re all stars. Education is the key to success.  What you learn, no one can take away from you.”

My goal is to grow and participate in Jr Buck Pride!

    Greetings Junior Buck Family,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year.  I am excited to begin my sixth year at Deerfield Beach Middle School serving the tremendous community of Deerfield Beach. I am originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan where I attended Grand Valley State University, earning a Bachelor's Degree of Arts with a major in English Language Arts and a minor in Education.  I went on to earn my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education.

We have our sites set on another successful year and we are committed to excellence day in and day out.  In order to do this, we need the support of all stakeholders, including students, parents, families, teachers, faculty, staff, business partners and community members.  Our IB Magnet Program is one of the top programs in the county and we offer a variety of athletic teams, clubs and programs that provide students with additional opportunities to get involved. Parents, I encourage you to join the PTSA (Parent, Teacher, Student Association) and SAC (School Advisory Council) this year! Meetings will be held in the Media Center the third Wednesday of every month, beginning in September. I look forward to a great year here at DBMS. Please don’t hesitate to contact me by phone or email if you have any questions or concerns.
