Assistant Principal's Message
WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Dear Friends and Families,
My name is Derrick Huff and I am the proud Assistant Principal here at Forest Hills Elementary. With students, parents, and community partnerships working together as a team, we can certainly move Forest Hills to the next level.
I am proud to announce that, amongst it’s many achievements during the 2018-2019 school year, Forest Hills earned an “A” letter grade by the Florida Department of Education by increasing 89 points, and showing great learning gains over the previous year, on the state of Florida’s, School Accountability System. We are excited and diligently putting all of the pieces in place to have another school year full of learning.
This year, the theme at Forest Hills will be “Level Up”. Through this theme, we will continue to strive and encourage all of our fabulous students to do their best at all times, while continuously monitoring their own progress on personal, as well as their academic goals.
Forest Hills is also proud to announce that in addition to Mathletes, Planeteers, PAWs Club, Student Council, and Robotics, this year we will have a Debate Team! Broward County Schools began their debate initiative during the 2012-2013 school year with 15 high schools. Since then, debate teams have expanded and includes elementary and middle schools, with more than 12,000 participants district wide. We are proud to announce that this year Forest Hills will have a debate team where students can think logically, organize thoughts and ideas, manipulate language, and build skills necessary for next levels of education.
I wish everyone a successful 2019-2020 school year!
