Mr. Thompson's Friday Message
This is Mr. Thompson the proud Principal at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and this is your weekly update of events happening at MSD:
This message is for June 8, 2018:
Once again a HUGE Congratulations to the class of 2018. Got lots of great feedback about Graduation and we wish the graduates much luck in their future endeavors.
The Resiliency Center at the Pine Trails Park Amphitheatre has had a makeover! Stop in for coffee, tea or snacks. Meet with one of the three full time licensed therapists, join one of their support groups or hang out in the lounge for some quiet time or conversation. Hours are Monday through Friday 12pm to 7pm and Saturday and Sunday 12pm to 5pm. The Center will be open all summer and beyond. There will be additional events planned throughout the summer.
The City of Parkland, City of Coral Springs, the MSD Alumni Association, and the School District are all working collaboratively to design a calendar of events for the summer. That calendar is in its final stages, please visit: https://www.cityofparkland.org/summer
Select Underclassmen may receive phone calls over the summer explaining that they owe textbooks from this past year. It is imperative to bring those textbooks in ASAP to ensure that you have a schedule in the fall.
Parents and students, on July 1, the 2018-2019 Code of Student Conduct Handbook will be posted on Broward Schools’ website at http://www.browardschools.com.
SAVE THE DATE: Our ANNUAL Open House will be Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 6pm. This is when you, the parent, have the opportunity to meet your child’s teacher for the new year, so MARK YOUR CALENDAR; Tuesday, August 21 at 6pm.
Keep in mind schedules seen through 3 party vendors over the summer are NOT OFFICIAL Schedules. The “official” schedule is distributed on the first day of school.
Over the summer be sure to check our website on a regular basis at stonemandouglas.browardschools.com or you can follow me on Twitter: @PrincipalMSD for updates as well.
We will restart our scheduled Friday messages in early August to explain opening procedures. Throughout the summer, I may have some additional updates.
Parents, please remember, over the summer, we have a very limited staff, while we are here to help, we have extremely limited resources, please call first to see how we can help. Summer hours are Monday-Thursday, 8a-2p. 754-322-2150.
Thank you once again for all your support and have a safe summer break with family and friends.
And always remember: BE POSITIVE, BE PASSIONATE, AND BE PROUD TO BE AN EAGLE.
Have a great summer.
