    Good morning COBRA Family,

    Well, another school year has come to an end but in a matter of a few short months, we shall begin anew again! 

    Use this summer wisely to research (ALL STUDENTS) and apply (JUNIORS) to colleges and apply (ALL STUDENTS) for scholarships on NAVIANCE (COLLEGES tab, SCHOLARSHIPS and MONEY link, SCHOLARSHIP LIST (for SENIORS) and SCHOLARSHIP MATCH (for all other STUDENTS). 

    Read for at least 20 minutes each day to keep your mind engaged but most importantly, rest and enjoy your time off!

    LIU Post is offering a virtual Summer Honors Institute for students who will start their senior year in September 2020. They are offering nine areas of study designed for specific student interests as listed below.

    We have partnered with Close Up Foundation to offer our annual Broward Parents in Action event in a virtual format. We have shared this with the teachers who attended the Rally to the Tally field trip. We ask you to share with your stakeholders as appropriate.     SENIOR GRADUATION INFORMATION:

     

    1. We will be working with Everlast, a tech company, to prepare for our ceremony.
    2. Grads will be able to view graduation on YouTube and via a live link.
    3. The last day of classes for Seniors is May 29th.  Graduation is June 18th, 2020, 4 p.
    4. All Seniors who want to be viewed in the virtual ceremony will need to complete and submit a Media Release Form. Additionally, all students will need to submit a respectable, chest-on-up, no gesturing image to be uploaded into the graduation presentation to ensure that their face can be viewed when their name is called.
    5. Caps and Gowns will still be delivered, and we will schedule a date for distribution. Updates are forthcoming regarding the exact date and time of graduation. Seniors are still able to order via www.hjbroward.com. The last day that they can order is May 15th.
    6. The District has outlined a specific format for the ceremony. All schools will follow the same “run of show” to facilitate a timely virtual graduation ceremony.

    COLLEGE ACCEPTANCE DAY – TBA in May - We will soon be celebrating seniors going to college on this very special day!  The idea is that seniors will have finalized their decision on which school they’ll be attending in August BY THIS DAY.  Then, you simply decorate you room (and yourself!) with all paraphernalia and decorations from that school, take a video or a photo, send it me, and I upload to FB and post on our website!  Can I get a hoo-hoo for all our FUTURE COLLEGIATES!

    • Automotive classes are Mondays and Tuesdays, students work at a dealership Wednesday-Saturday.
    • The program is 2 years long.
    • You’ll receive ASE Certification towards MASTER’S in automotive repair.

    Virtual Counselor Password Reset

    Students can log into VC to check grades.  If they cannot get in through SSO, go to:  https://bcps.browardschools.com/VirtualCounselor/ and log in with their student ID and password.  The password is defaulted to their birth date MM/DD/YYYY (don't forget the slashes).  

    • If they changed their password they would need to put the new password in
    • If they forgot the password they can reset the password by answering their secret question.  
    • If they forgot the answer to their secret question...(What's your favorite ice cream, for example). The counselor or school staff member has to email dwh.mail@browardschools.com and ask them to reset the password for the

    • COVID testing is vital as we make decisions about the future. On Friday, April 17th, the first walk up testing site in Broward County opened at Mitchell Moore Park, 901 NW 10th Street, in Pompano Beach from 9AM-6PM. This site will be open every day except Thursdays. On Saturday, April 18th, a second walk up location opened at Sam Delevoe Memorial Park, 2520 NW 6th Street, in Fort Lauderdale from 9AM-6PM. Anyone with symptoms can be tested at these locations. For information, or to make an appointment call (954) 412-7300.

     

    • The Festival Market at 2900 West Sample Road in Pompano is also scheduled to begin drive-thru testing again on Monday, April 20th. You must make an appointment for drive-thru testing at the Festival Market by calling (954) 320-5730 from 8AM-4:30PM.

    • SAT has added a new SAT administration for Saturday, September 26, 2020.This date will be for the SAT only, in the United States and internationally, with no SAT Subject Tests™ available. Sunday testing for religious reasons will be on September 27.

      Registration for the 2020-21 SAT administrations will open the week of May 26. At that point, June registrants will be able to transfer their seat to a 2020-21 administration. All other students in the high school class of 2021 who don't have SAT scores will also have early access to register for the August, September, and October administrations. This includes students who had registered for March or May and had their registrations canceled and refunded. If you have questions, call Customer Service at 866-756-7346.
