Mrs. Susan Collins
Susan Collins is the Magnet Coordinator at Sheridan Technical High School. She has a Master’s Degree in Special Ed. from Florida Atlantic University. She began her career as a high school ESE Teacher in Broward County in 1977. She created a Marketing and Education Program at Sheridan Technical Center for high school ESE students in 1992. This program won a Best Practice Award from the State of Florida, and she, teacher of the year, in 1994. In that same year, she developed an Auto Detailing program for ESE students. She earned a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Nova University before her relocating to San Jose, California. In San Jose, she was a high school ESE Teacher for fourteen years; an ESE Specialist seven years, and ESE Summer School Principal for three years. She mentored new teachers for twelve years, and was part of the leadership team that reviewed their portfolios, and trained teachers to become mentors. She led numerous other professional development trainings such as: moving to an inclusion model for ESE students, moving from paper IEP’s to web based, and strategies for teachers dealing with various disabilities in the classroom. She was instrumental in creating multiple secondary programs for students with autism. Susan is happy to be back in Florida with her family, and to be part of our exciting Technical High School.
