Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)
The District’s vision is to provide students with the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) skills to thrive academically, become responsible citizens in society, to contribute value to themselves as well as their families and communities, and to enjoy productive and satisfying lives. SEL addresses the following:
- Supports academic learning
- Contributes to students’ overall well-being and to that of their families and communities
- Develops resiliency and wellbeing
- Fosters productive and satisfying lives
Our mission is to make SEL an essential part of the District’s educational process and curricula by creating a comprehensive, coordinated, and systemic web of services. Through collaborating with schools, communities, and families, we strive to align resources to promote academic, social, and emotional competence, ensuring that every student develops the knowledge and skills needed for lifelong success.
With the help of parents, school staff, and community members, students will have the opportunities to develop their Collaborative for Academic and Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) competencies.
