    Broward College Dual Enrollment:

If you have any questions regarding Broward College Dual Enrollment please contact your student’s guidance counselor.

    Good Afternoon Students and Parents,

Update Summer: Students planning on taking Summer Dual Enrollment, Summer Session 1 and 2 are being moved to remote online instruction.

I hope everyone is continuing to stay positive and safe with all that is going on. Broward College has provided an update for Fall Dual Enrollment. Yay! Please read the following information carefully. I have provided step-by-step instructions for each dual enrollment group. Guidance is here to assist you in any way we can, as we want to be able to help you as best as possible.

Just a reminder, if you are planning on taking a Dual Enrollment course at MSD next school year (2020-2021), you must meet the eligibility requirements for Dual Enrollment and complete and turn in the required paperwork. Just selecting the course on your course card does not allow you to be in the class.

Phase I – Continuing DE Students (You must turn in a Recommendation Form for EACH term)

(Continuing meaning you have taken a Broward College Dual Enrollment course already, have the unweighted GPA 3.0+, AND have already given your test scores to Broward College.)

Step 1: Continuing Students, please email your counselor that you are a RETURNER

Step 2: Counselors will email DE Form to continuing dual enrollment students

Step 3: Students, you will need to do ALL OF THE following:

    1. Download the form to your desktop (please make sure it is downloading with Adobe
      Reader)
    2. Open the form to your desktop
    3. Complete the Student Identification Information and Other Required Fields (Leave the grey box blank – this is for your counselor to fill out!)
    4. Save the PDF as “Save As” with your LAST NAME, FIRST NAME
    5. Email the completed form as an attachment to your counselor. ****In the email ALSO include 8 courses you want to take AND where you plan on taking your course(s): whether at MSD or Broward College

Step 4: Counselor and student can discuss Broward College course selection via phone, email, etc.

Step 5: Counselor completes the Dual Enrollment Recommendation Form, verifying GPA and placing recommended courses and number of approved credits on the form for each student who still meets the unweighted high school GPA minimum of 3.0 and who already has qualifying test scores.

Step 5: Counselor emails completed forms to Ms. Ziccardi

These forms are DUE BY APRIL 24, 2020 to your counselor.

Phase II – New Students with Test Scores

(New Students = you have the 3.0+ GPA and the test scores already completed and available)

Step 1: NEW Students, please email your counselor that you are NEW to Dual Enrollment and have the required Test Scores. You must attach your SAT/ACT/ or PERT scores to that email. Your counselor will need your SAT sub scores; this is located on your SAT detailed report. If you have PERT scores, then you can find those scores in your Broward College account, underneath Transcripts.

Step 2: Counselors confirm students have qualifying GPA and test scores. Counselor will send DE Form to qualifying students.

Step 3: Students, you will need to do ALL OF THE following:

    1. Apply to BC online (if you have not already; keep record of your BC Student ID number and your BC Email Address)
    2. Download the form to your desktop (please make sure it is downloading with Adobe
      Reader)
    3. Open the form to your desktop
    4. Complete the Student Identification Information and Other Required Fields (Leave the grey box blank – this is for your counselor to fill out!)
    5. Save the PDF as “Save As” with your LAST NAME, FIRST NAME
    6. Email the completed form as an attachment to your counselor. ****In the email ALSO include 8 courses you want to take AND where you plan on taking your course(s): whether at MSD or Broward College

Step 4: Counselor and student can discuss Broward College course selection via phone, email, etc.

Step 5: Counselor completes the Dual Enrollment Recommendation Form, verifying GPA and placing the recommended courses and number of approved credits. Also, please attach student’s qualifying test scores (PDF or A21 screen).

Step 6: Counselor emails completed forms and test scores to Ms. Ziccardi

These forms are DUE BY MAY 15, 2020 to your counselor.

Phase III – New Students with No Test Scores

This information is only for students who are in Phase 3 - new students with no test scores - for the Broward College dual enrollment process. Please see below for the steps you will need to take. All testing and required paperwork is due by May 22nd.

Please remember, you must have all the required test scores in order to be eligible to dual enroll (required test scores are attached to this email). All students looking to take a Broward College class (at MSD or off campus) must meet eligibility requirements and complete the required paperwork.

    STEPS:

Step 1: Apply at broward.edu. Keep record of your BC email address and BC student ID number.

Step 2: If you do not have any test scores, then please see the attached DE Testing Referral Form. Fill out your name and put your BC Student ID number on the form. Follow the directions in the attachment in how to proceed with testing remotely.
If you do have some of the required test scores (yes, you can mix SAT/ACT test scores with PERT scores), then please email your counselor to obtain the correct testing referral form.

Step 3: Email your counselor with your test scores attached. Your counselor will verify to see if you have met all of the required scores. If you met all the required scores, then your counselor will send you the DE Recommendation Form. If you do not meet all of the required scores, then your counselor will tell you how to proceed with testing again. It will cost money to take the PERT for a 2nd & 3rd time.

Step 4: Students who met all the required test scores will now need to do ALL of following:
    1. Download the form to your desktop (please make sure it is downloading with Adobe Reader) (https://get.adobe.com/reader/ )
    2. Open the form to your desktop
    3. Complete the Student Identification Information and Other Required Fields (Leave the grey box blank – this is for your counselor to fill out!)
    4. “Save As” an Adobe PDF with your LAST NAME, FIRST NAME                    -this is a key step because it keeps the form writable so your counselor can complete their portion of the form.
    5. Email the completed form as an attachment to your counselor. ****In the email ALSO include 8 courses you want to take AND where you plan on taking your course(s): whether at MSD or Broward College

Step 5: Counselor and student can discuss Broward College course selection via phone, email, etc. Email your completed Dual Enrollment Recommendaiton Form to your counselor by May 22nd!

Step 6: Counselor will email completed forms to Ms. Ziccardi

If you have any questions please reach out to your counselor. We are here to help assist you in any way we can with the dual enrollment process.
