Colleges/Universities

  • BCPS College Fair Banner

As the process of applying to and selecting a college becomes more and more competitive and complex, students and parents need all the help and information they can get. Attending a college fair is the best way to gather information about colleges and universities. Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) College Fair provides valuable resources for students and parents attempting to navigate the college admissions process.

Attend a Workshop

  • Participants can attend workshops on finding money for college and navigating the college admissions process. Various workshops are in Spanish, Portuguese and Haitian Creole.

    Workshops begin at 6 p.m. ,7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Seating is limited.

    Session Topic Location
How to Get Money for College Performing and Visual Arts Auditorium
Navigating the College Admissions Process Arena Club Room
An Introduction to Naviance – Family Connection First Floor Dining Area

Complete the FAFSA

  • Computer labs will be open from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. and staffed with financial aid experts to assist families with completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  The FAFSA is where students receive federal financial assistance in the form of loans, grants and work-study programs.  Annually, BCPS seniors leave over $10 million in Pell Grants (need-based grants) on the table, simply because they do not complete the application.

Although not required, students and parents should both create a FSA ID that serves as the PIN for accessing the FAFSA prior to attending the FAFSA lab.  This will cut the time needed to complete the FAFSA in half; however, staff can assist with creating a FSA ID at the college fair if the student and/or parent cannot create one beforehand.

No appointment is required, but one is highly encouraged as limited walk-in assistance will be available.
