Standards-Based Balanced Literacy Approach
The development of literacy skills in children does not rest solely on a singular aspect of instruction or educational practice. Likewise, this development occurs from instruction that is cyclical in nature, requiring the educator to address multiple elements in a recursive manner. To this regard, teachers must recognize literacy as a system. They must also balance these elements in the way that they interact with each other, as well as with the personalized needs of the individual student.
