President’s Message 2018-2019
The Flamingo Elementary PTO would like to welcome all new and returning students and families back to school. We hope everyone had a great summer and is looking forward to another great year at Flamingo Elementary School.
We are enthusiastic for the new school year and we will continue to bring our students, parents, and staff fun activities, lasting relationships, and new goals. Our PTO is excited to be here and we hope you can take part in our excitement throughout the school year. Our 2017-2018 PTO Board Members are:
President: Kara Smith
Vice President: Veronica Alfaro
Secretary: Alexandra Comparato
Treasurer: Tanya Assak
Some of you may ask why we have a PTO. The PTO is an organization of parents and teachers of Flamingo Elementary. We strive for continued parental involvement in helping build a better educational environment for our children. We also promote a school community where teachers, administrators, and support staff can do their best work with the resources we can provide. Through fundraising efforts, the PTO is able to donate funds to purchase educational materials and equipment for the school, along with awards and incentives for students.
For the PTO to be effective and truly representative of the school, it is essential to have parental involvement from as many parents as possible. Many working parents feel that they cannot be included in the PTO because they cannot come to every meeting or be on campus during the day. There are endless possibilities of ways that you can help. Whatever your own level of flexibility, Flamingo Elementary PTO, along with our staff, appreciates our parent volunteers. Keep in mind that by volunteering, you will get to enjoy interacting with the students, develop relationships with other parents, and accomplish things that truly make a difference. Whether you have 30 minutes or a couple of hours, your ideas, time, and talents are truly needed. We can match your time constraints and interests to needed tasks. We have many ways in which moms, dads, aunts, uncles, and grandparents can contribute. Please consider volunteering; it really does make a difference in the lives of our children.
Please feel free to contact Kara Smith email@example.com for more information. You can also visit browardschools.com/volunteer-application to fill out the volunteer application through Broward County Public Schools.
Come and see first-hand how the students benefit from so many programs and all of our hard work. This is your PTO and as a member you can help us achieve these goals. We need your help, your ideas, and your energy! Go PTO!
