Campus Safety Update

    Safety Expectation Updates

    ID Badges

Broward School's policy requires identification badges be worn at all times while a student is on campus.  The policy requires each student to receive a school ID badge upon registration or at the start of the school year.  If the badge is lost, stolen, or misplaced, a replacement badge will be issued.  After three replacements have been issued during the school year, there will be a student financial obligation charge of $5.00 for each additional badge issued.  The financial obligation will need to be paid online at  Unpaid student financial obligations can impact future payments towards field trips.

    Access to Campus--Where to Park

The parking lot in the front of the school is designated for staff parking.  The parent and visitor parking is the lot located on the west side of the school.  We kindly ask that you refrain from parking in the front lot.  Our handicapped parking spaces are located in the front parking lot.  If you need to utilize any of these parking spaces, please ensure that your handicapped placard is properly displayed.

    Have Your Identification with You

When coming onto the campus for any reason, you will need to have your driver license.  Your license will be scanned through the District "STAR" system.

    You will need your identification:

    • when attending any meeting on the school campus from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm--parent/teacher conferences, SAC meeting,  IEP's, meetings with administration, etc.
    • when attending an event, such as an assembly, performance, etc. from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.  Evening events do not require a photo ID to enter the campus.
    • when picking up your child from school for early dismissal or late pickups-- if you arrive after the car line ends.  This applies to anyone you send to pick up your child.

Please understand that while the office staff may "know you", they are required to ask for your identification.  Please do not assume that because "they know you" you don't need your identification.   Please don't be offended when the office staff enforces policies designed to ensure the security of your children.

    Volunteering verses Visiting

In order to "volunteer" in any capacity or to attend events that happen within the classroom, you need to not only have your identification for access to the campus, you need to be "cleared" through the District's volunteer process.  This requires that you complete an online application and allow ample time for the application to be processed and for you to be "cleared" to volunteer.  As a proactive measure to circumvent frustration and potential confusion, if you or any family member (spouse, grandparents, older siblings, etc.) anticipates volunteering on field trips, assisting with classroom celebrations, etc., please be sure to complete the online application at  It is better to have the clearance and not use it then to need it and not have it.

Student Drop off and Pick Up

Instruction begins promptly at 8:00 am.  Students are marked tardy if they are not in their classrooms at 8:00.

    • The student entrance in the back car loop off of Westview closes at 7:55 am.
    • The front entrance gate closes promptly at the 8:00 am bell.  If you arrive with your child after 8:00 am, you must accompany your child into the front office to sign them in.

Anyone picking up their child in either the front or back carline, needs to be sure to display a cartag visible indicating who they are picking up. If you do not have a cartag, you will be asked to park and go to the front office with your identification to be cleared to pick up your students.  Please ensure that anyone you send to pick up your child, is aware of this safety procedure.   You can pick up extra cartags in the front office, if needed.

Please be sure that your emergency contact information is kept current and updated with the contacts who you are permitting to pick up your child.
