Mr. Forsman's Welcome Message
Dear Forest Glen Middle Families,
As I begin my 34th year in education and my 8th year at Forest Glen Middle, I think about the changes we have been forced to make to educate students. We are beginning the 2020-2021 school year via e-learning and there are a number of positive changes that will be rolled out on August 19th. First, there will be a schedule that students will follow each day to receive live daily virtual teaching. In addition, there will be daily evening help sessions on Teams for students that need assistance in doing independent work. Parents are asked to monitor student engagement and participation in daily class meetings and monitor their progress in submitting assigned work.
As we prepare for the start of school on Wednesday, August 19th, I have worked with our school leadership team to finalize the format, date, and time of our back-to-school events. While it is our desire to be face-to-face, the state of the Covid-19 virus in Florida requires us to meet virtually. We have scheduled virtual student and parent orientation sessions such as: 6th Grade Orientation, Technology Use sessions for students and parents, and Open House. The schedule will be posted to our website on Monday, July 27th. Please make plans to join the session or view the recording. I hope to be able to provide some clarification and answers to many of your questions regarding e-learning for the 2020-2021 school year. Please see the announcement on the Forest Glen website, and we hope you will be able to join us at your child’s scheduled grade level virtual meeting.
I appreciate your patience and support as we work through these unprecedented times together. Please know that we are focused on making the e-learning experience as positive and productive as possible. To do this, we need your support and involvement in monitoring your student’s participation in daily class meetings and academic progress.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call our front office at 754-322-3400 or email your child’s administrator or guidance counselor. We are here to serve you. I hope you and your family continue to have a great summer. Stay strong, stay healthy, and we look forward to seeing you very soon!
