    Seniors: Listen UP! Each of you is always asking Mrs. Farrand for scholarships. She wants to remind you to read her emails and check your naviance scholarship list. The city of Parkland has received very few applications and the George Snow Scholarship, worth $20,000, which is to be awarded to 10 seniors, only has 7 applicants. Now is not the time to pretend that you do not know! Get going! Any questions, see Mrs. Farrand.

    Congratulations to the competition cheerleaders for winning regional champions this past weekend. Good luck at states next weekend!

    MSD JROTC competed yesterday at Coral Gables High School and placed 3rd overall out of 20 schools. Also, Anthony Aguilar earned 1st place in the individual knock out competition out of over 200 participants.

    Seniors: If you live in the City of Parkland, please make sure that you apply for the City of Parkland Scholarship. As of today, ONLY 1 of you has applied and there are 3 scholarships.     Congratulations to Ashley Paris for not only being selected to the Sun Sentinel 1st team for bowling this past season, but she was just selected by the Miami Herald to their 1st All-County Bowling Team. Congratulations Ashley!! Also ,there will be a bowling meeting Tuesday the 28th for next year's team. Time and place yet to be determined. Stay tuned for that announcement.

    Congratulations to the Eagles wrestling team as they moved to 13-3 on the season. Last night the Eagles won their home meets defeating:
    Coconut Creek 47-33
    Dillard 69-12
    Everglades 72-12
    Abundant Life Christian 78-3.

    Marcos Aguirre got his 25th win of the season and Josh Frais got his 24th win of the season! The varsity will be competing in the the BCAA championships next weekend. The Wrestling Eagles will have their senior night and last home match of the season on February 5th against Monarch.

    Tennis Club and TEAM Anthony's Coal Fire Pizza Kick Back is going on TODAY - ALL DAY! Order lunch or dinner, eat in or take out, and partial proceeds will go to MSD Tennis Relay for Life! WE THANK YOU!!!

    The MSD wrestling team will have their first home meet of the season tonight at 5 PM. The Eagles will take on Deerfield Beach, McArthur, and Flanagan. Come out and support your Eagles wrestling team!

    Are you planning to attend a college or university after high school? Are you starting to think about your options or want to start exploring them? Then mark your calendar! On Thursday, February 20th at 6 pm in the cafeteria, Douglas will be hosting its annual college fair. Do not miss the opportunity to speak with over 60 universities and colleges on what they offer and how you can benefit from them. Any questions, see your guidance counselor and remember this event is OPEN to all students.

    Tonight’s the night! Come out and see your classmates battle it out for the title of Mr.Douglas! Tickets can be bought in the cafeteria, online, or at the door for $5. The showcase will be held in the auditorium at 7:00pm. Who will be your next Mr.Douglas?

    Seniors, It is time to recognized your accomplishments! Come to guidance and fill out a card and tell us what university or college you have been accepted to. These seniors will be invited for a recognition event on college sign-in day. Any questions, stop by the BRACE office.

    There will be tryouts for both boys and girls lacrosse on Monday, January 27th and Tuesday, January 28th from 4:00pm - 6:00pm at Pine Trails Park. Boys will be on Field 2 and Girls will be on Field 1.

    Don’t forget tickets are on sale for the Mr. Douglas pageant.  You can purchase your tickets either on the e-store or at both lunches.  Come watch a contestant in your grade try and take the title tomorrow in the auditorium at 7:00pm.  Who will be the next Mr. Douglas 2020?

    Dual Enrollment Paperwork for Summer Dual Enrollment is due January 30th. Please see your counselor for any information and paperwork. You must submit a new form for every term.

    MSD has partnered up with Westglades Middle School and Big Brothers and Big Sisters to create a great mentoring program! MSD students will be matched to a middle school student next door at Westglades and will meet with them each week on Thursday’s from 2:45pm- 3:45pm. This is your chance to build and share friendship with a child within a structured setting. Your activities will have an academic focus, but will also be about social development, friendship/trust-building and a great chance to inspire a child to look forward to their school day! For more information, please come meet with the representative from Big Brothers and Big Sisters in the cafeteria during both lunches today.

    The Catholic Club is still collecting shoes for children throughout the world. If you have any you can bring them to room 911 any time during school hours. They don't need to be new, they can be used, but in good condition.

    Yearbooks are on sale via the eStore for $100. There are less than 400 left to order, so don't miss out!
