MSD’s Genius Bar
(Math Peer Tutoring Program)
Stoneman Douglas High School is launching the first year of its Genius Bar program to help students struggling in Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 and those preparing for the PERT test. The Genius Bar is a free peer tutoring program that matches struggling students with hand-selected peer tutors. Students commit to meet with their peer tutors at least once a week in the media center during their study hall period. Students stay with the same peer matches the entire school year. This opportunity is available to all students, however, students who sign up to be a part of the Genius Bar program must understand that they are committing to a minimum of one study hall period a week to meet with their tutors for the entire length of the school year. Any student who fails to meet with their peer tutor for more than two scheduled tutoring sessions will be removed from the program.
This is an extremely valuable opportunity that has helped many struggling students succeed in their EOC courses and in passing the PERT test.
The program launched on November 13th. To get involved with the program (if room allows), you must contact Mathematics Specialist Anna Koltunova via email.
