Award Books

  • Caldecott Medal and Honor Books  The Caldecott Medal was named in honor of nineteenth-century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott. It is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children. 

    Children’s Africana Book Awards  The Children’s Africana Book Awards (CABA) are presented annually to the authors and illustrators of the best children’s and young adult books on Africa published or republished in the U.S.

    Children's Choices 2020 Reading List  This is a selection of newly published books that students have voted as the ones they most enjoyed reading.

    Coretta Scott King Award Books  The Coretta Scott King Book Awards are given annually to outstanding African American authors and illustrators of books for children and young adults that demonstrate an appreciation of African American culture and universal human values.

    Geisel Medal and Honor Books  The Geisel Award is given annually to the author(s) and illustrator(s) of the most distinguished American book for beginning readers published in English in the United States during the preceding year.

    Newbery Medal and Honor Books  The Newbery Medal was named for eighteenth-century British bookseller John Newbery. It is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.

    Notable Children’s Books 2020  Each year a committee of the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) identifies the best of the best in children's books.

    Pura Belpré Award Books  The Pura Belpré Award, established in 1996, is presented to a Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth.

    Schneider Family Award Books  The Schneider Family Book Awards honor an author or illustrator for a book that embodies an artistic expression of the disability experience for child and adolescent audiences.

    Sibert Medal and Honor Books  The Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Medal is awarded annually to the author(s) and illustrator(s) of the most distinguished informational book published in the United States in English during the preceding year.

    Sunshine State Young Readers Award Books Grades 3-5 (SSYRA) This is a list of 15 books chosen by Florida school librarians each year. The books are selected to motivate reading for students in Grades 3-5.
