    2021-2022 Head Start/Early Head Start Application Information

    The 2021-2022 BCPS Head Start/Early Head Start application process will take place virtually or via telephone.

    Families with income below Federal Poverty Guidelines, receiving public assistance, homeless, foster children, and children with disabilities are eligible. https://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty-guidelines 

    Step 1: If you are NEW to Head Start (never applied before), you must complete the pre-application prior to your appointment. If you are new to Head Start and need to create pre-application please send an email with parent's first and last name, child's first and last name, date of birth, and email address to headstart@browardschools.com. (If you do not complete the pre-application, your appointment will be canceled)

    **If you have an account with Early Head Start/Head Start or have had another child previously attend Early Head Start/Head Start please move on to Step 2.** 

    Step 2: Click here to schedule your virtual appointment. A staff member from Head Start will contact you via phone or email prior to your appointment to provide you with further instructions. 

    Step 3: You will be sent a link to upload the required documents below prior to your virtual appointment.

    (Please note if you are more than 15 mins late, your appointment will be canceled)

    Your application is not complete nor will your child be considered for enrollment until you have completed an interview. Children with disabilities, homeless and Foster Care children, who meet all other requirements, are encouraged to apply.

  • Important Information about Entering Kindergarten after Head Start/Early Head Start
    Selection for a Head Start/Early Head Start program at a school does not guarantee placement for Kindergarten at the same school. If your child is selected or offered a seat in a Head Start/Early Head Start class that is not your boundary schoolyou must apply for and receive a reassignment in order for your child to attend Kindergarten at the same school. To learn about the reassignment process, please visit the School Choice website.
