After Care

  • Our mission is to provide students with an inclusive child care program that is safe and nurturing in a comfortable environment. A culturally enriching program that promotes the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development of each child; and a program that meets the highest quality of child care standards.

The mission of our Before and/or After School Child Care program is to provide students with:

    • An inclusive child care program that is safe and nurturing in a comfortable environment.
    • A cultural enriching program that promotes the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development of each child.
    • A program that meets the highest quality of child care standards.

Currently, there are over 21,000 children being served in 184 Before and/or After School Child Care Programs throughout the District.  Programs are provided at elementary schools, some middle schools, and all centers.  These are either School Board operated or are operated by a private provider. The principal, in collaboration with the School Advisory Council (SAC), will select the provider for each location.

Your child will have the opportunity to have a snack, do their homework with assistance, and then participate in several scheduled activities. These will include an academic enhancement, a technology session, creative play or dramatic arts, outdoor activity to enhance fitness, and a free choice.
