Principal's Message

  • Lori MendezWatkins Families-

Welcome Back! Whether you are a returning scholar or new to Watkins, it is my pleasure to welcome you for the 2021-2022 school year. Our school theme this year is, Think. Believe. Dare. Do.

Our goal this school year is to achieve that A! Guess what, we are well on our way! The students and teachers are already working diligently to achieve this goal. Students have been participating in hands-on activities since day one. I couldn’t be more proud of everyone.

As we begin this new school year, we know that we are faced with many different challenges during the Covid pandemic. I want to give a huge “thank you” to all of you for your support, compassion, and most of all, patience as we navigate through our new norms for this school year.

Once again, masks are mandatory for all students and staff while on campus. Additionally, we ask that our students remain three feet apart from one another while on campus. I will continue to update you via Parent Link, Class Dojo, and CANVAS with all pertinent information and updates. Additionally, you can always email me directly using Watkins Staff Directory, and I will get back to you ASAP.

I am honored to continue serving as the Principal of Watkins Elementary School. Many of you know I have worked in the community for over 20 years, and I am privileged to be a part of a team where parents, teachers, and students strive for excellence. This school year, we will work diligently to increase the academic success of our students.  Now more than ever, the partnership between home and school is a crucial one. We hope to build partnerships with our families in order to guide our students to success. I encourage you to keep the lines of communication open.

Once again, welcome to the 2021-2022 school year. Together we will make it a magical year!

    Educationally Yours,

    Lori A. Mendez
