Assistant Principal's Message
Congratulations on completing another year at Maplewood Elementary. On behalf of the Maplewood school community, we wish our 2018 class continued success in middle school. To our new families, thank you for choosing Maplewood and entrusting us with your precious children. Welcome to our Maplewood Family!
We definitely had a very productive year with much to celebrate. Accomplishments to celebrate this year include, but not limited to, moving up one letter grade from a "C" to a "B", increased community participation in school events: Winter Wonderland Curriculum Night, Career Day, and Maplewood Carnival. Additionally, we have begun construction for the betterment of Maplewood through the S.M.A.R.T Bond dollars and increased the amount of technology in our classrooms meeting the 21st century skills necessary for the utmost success of our students. Our accomplishments are made possible by our EXTRAordinary families and staff. Thank you for your love, support and loyalty!
Summer is here, and this is the time students and families look forward to many wonderful events. Summer activities provide valuable experiences in which children learn about themselves and the world around them. Your child’s life can be enriched through reading and journal writing. Please make sure that your child’s day includes time that is set aside for independent reading. Reading is a “sport” with a 12-month season, so please ensure that your child makes it to “practice” every day.
Please take the time to read and help your child actively partake in our I-Ready Program to support the learning. Our goal is to have 100% participation for Maplewood students. I would like to thank you now for assisting your children with reading this year and thank you in advance for continuing during the summer. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!
Come August, please join us for our Welcome Back Meet & Greet on August 14th, 2018, you will be able to meet your child’s teacher and drop off school supplies. A reminder, school begins on Wednesday, August 15th, which is different than the usual Monday start date. Please be on the look-out for a ParentLink with further information.
May you refuel this summer vacation with rest; relaxation and recreation before we continue to “OWLS” do our BEST for the 2018-19 school year!
