Principal's Message

  • August 15, 2018

     Good Morning Tiger Family,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2018-2019 School Year. I am truly excited about the wonderful and engaging activities we have lined-up for our students and families this year!  When you stop by at our Meet and Greet, check out the fabulous flower arrangement Ms. Modarelli and Ms. Ruggieri placed on the lawn in front of the office.  Fantastic!  Their plan is to use this as an example to engage the newly formed Student Government to conduct beautification and motivational projects on our campus.  We have been speaking with Ms. Leonard to bring the Safety Patrols in on the fun too.  Dr. Morales (our new Science Coach) has been working hard and received two grants that will bring experiences for our students through STEM activities.  First, the Makerspaces : Littlebits Wonder Works and Code Kits.   This is a Turner France Grant.  Norcrest will implement Makerspaces for all Norcrest students in the Media, providing them with opportunities to collaborate and engage in engineering activities.  Also, I am proud to announce we were selected as one of the schools to participate in the Broward VEX Robotics Grant.  Students in grades 3-5 will have the opportunity to join our Tiger Tech group that will focus on coding, operating, and problem solving using our dot and das, and vex robots.

Help me extend a warm welcome to our new newest members of the Norcrest Tiger Family:  Ms. Agress (Art), Ms. Perez (Music), Ms. McCullough and Ms. Singer (Speech and Language).  Also, a welcome back to Ms. Kennon and Ms. Ochrimenko!

New safety enhancements and our inclusion pilot implementation will build a safe and inviting educational environment for all of our students.  Please review our Tiger Tales Newsletter included in the first day packet for details on our safety enhancements.  We moved slightly up 2 points overall on the 2018 FSA.  We are only 5 points away from the “B” classification.  But not for long!  We are motivated and ready to do what it takes to move forward.  “We Can Do It!” has become our theme for this school year and I invite all families to join in and support our students on their path to success.

        Thank you and Welcome Back!

         Mrs. Kyna Duarte
