Even though we had to cancel this year's Veteran's Day, we still had a few student performances.  Congratulations to our students from "Tradewind and Fire" (coordinated by Ms. Larrieux and Mrs. Valbuena) and Ms. Cummings and Mrs. Roy's classes. Our Student Government planned a wonderful event and although canceled, we thank them for their continued dedication.   Student Government also sponsored this year's Harvest Drive to help families have a Thanksgiving Dinner.  Our Tradewinds Family collected 29 boxes of food and The Harvest Church in Coconut Creek donated 10 Thanksgiving meals.  Our entire school community is so appreciative of this generosity and character!

November’s character trait is Citizenship:  knowing, understanding, and displaying a high regard for rules, laws, government, heritage, and for those who have served and sacrificed for community and country.  We will be showcasing students on November 30th on WTNN with Character Education awards.

Please join me in congratulating Mrs. Valbuena who was nominated as the "Do The Right Thing" by the City of Coconut Creek.   Nominated by Officer Laura Sudman, she was recognized last Thursday at the City of Coconut Creek Commission Chambers.  Other recent winners of this award were two fantastic students...Harper Cruz and Valentina Aristy.

Tradewinds Elementary wishes to thank both Afterschool Programs (ASP) and North Broward Chiropractic and Wellness for being great partners!   We also want to welcome Dairy Queen (Winston Park) as a new partner in excellence!   At a recent PTA Family Night event, we earned $275.00 (and an ice-cream party) towards a fun-filled spring event being planned.  Speaking of partnerships...our PTA has been an amazing support for our school community and it's a great time to say, "Thank You"!

The second very important Florida Assessment in Student Thinking (F.A.S.T.) Progress Monitoring #2 for Both Reading and Mathematics is just around the corner.  Please mark your calendar for the following dates: Tuesday, December 6th (Reading - Kindergarten through Grade 5) and Wednesday, December 14th (Mathematics - Kindergarten through Grade 5).  Attendance counts!  Please ensure that your child(ren) is present and punctual on these two days and every day of school.

Monarch High School will be hosting a Zone Open House for current and prospective students and families. All are invited to explore The Castle, hear ideas to assist in planning your student’s educational future and learn about Cambridge, Advanced Placement, vocational programs, college/career dual enrollment, scholarships, athletics, clubs, activities and support services. This informational session is scheduled for Wednesday, November 30th from 6:00-7:00 PM (flyer attached).

Due to the number of required instructional minutes already built into the student schedule throughout the year, both January 12th's and April 20th's Early Release Days have been converted to Full School Days.  This is a direct result of the four-day closure caused by Hurricane Ian and Nicole.
