I truly hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful holiday season with their families and friends. If you can believe it, we are officially entering the second half of the school year. This is an exciting time filled with many opportunities for learning and fun. In January, intermediate students will be participating in the Broward Standards Assessment. This will provide you with information as it relates to your child’s progress so far on the standards they have been learning. Last quarter, we had a very successful Parent Academy where we discussed reading instruction. Please plan to join us for our next Parent Academy where we will discuss math instruction. As always, stay in contact with your classroom teacher as we partner together to ensure your child enjoys a top-notch educational experience. I am honored to serve the staff and families that continue to be dedicated to ensuring that the students of Riverside Elementary, “develop into well-rounded students with the ability to contribute to society and envision a better future.”

Our school-wide theme continues to be showcased through-out the school. Examples of Kindness Starts with Me! #RSE is Kind! can be seen throughout the classrooms and in the displays throughout the buildings. We look forward to a special school-wide project coming in the month of February related to our theme and to the second annual MSD Commemoration: “A Day of Service and Love.” All students will be able to participate through the arts culminating in beautiful artwork throughout the school.

There are two great ways to stay involved in our school. Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and School Advisory Council (SAC) is a great way to share in the decision-making process. Even just becoming a member of our PTO is a wonderful way to support our school community. Please see any of our office staff to learn about participating in either of these organizations. Another way to be involved in your child’s education is to sign up as a volunteer by completing an online application at Volunteering at Broward County Schools

Please take the time to follow our school on Twitter @RSERocky and Like "Riverside Elem Coral Springs" on Facebook. Also, receive information for Riverside Elementary right on your phone and through email by ensuring you have updated information as part of your child’s record. We utilize the Parent Link System to provide updates as needed, and also to provide weekly school specific information.

Please know that I am here to serve the Riverside Community and look forward to a successful school year together!

    Mrs. Sabrina Sheib
