German Club

  • Welcome to the J.P. Taravella German Club!

I am your teacher, Mr. Hubsch, and I invite all students interested in learning about the German language or German culture to join our German Club. Do you have German or Yiddish in your family background? Have you ever wanted to travel to Germany, or wondered what the countryside there looks like? Do you know what kind of foods and dishes are native to Germany? Did you know that both Albert Einstein and Ludwig van Beethoven were born in and lived in Germany?

The German Club is a great opportunity for students enrolled in the German world language course at J.P. Taravella High School to gain an immersive experience while learning about the German language and German culture by participating in diverse and interesting activities. These activities are a lot of fun and help the students practice their German vocabulary and language skills, while also learning about German heritage and traditions.

There are many reasons to sign up for learning the German language. If you would ever like to travel to Germany, the benefit is obvious. There are many things right here in America that you can explore and benefit from by learning the German language. Would you like to study to become a doctor, engineer, or scientist? Did you know that you can study abroad as a student in Germany tuition-free in any subject you choose? In order to do this, however, you will have to learn the German language. Learning German can open up a whole new world for you.

Here is a list of just some of the many exciting activities you will be able to participate in by enrolling in the German language class and joining the German Club:

    • At every German Club meeting, we enjoy different German foods such as German soft gingerbread, potato pancakes, and Stollen, to name a few.

    • Live telephone and video conferencing with students in Germany.

    • Every student has a voice in suggesting ideas for upcoming German Club meetings and activities in class.

    • Role play - Students act out skits in German.

    • Movie Night - Watch a movie-in German!

    • Dinner in a German restaurant - Students will enjoy German cuisine at an authentic German restaurant. They will have the opportunity to bring the whole family to join the festivities.

    • Group pictures are taken with member shirts.

    • New! - Virtual Visit to German locations. Experience the exciting new world of panoramic photography and put yourself in the picture. Feel like you are really there as you take in the panoramic vistas and scenes at various locations in Germany.

We hope to see you soon! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me: Mr. M. Hubsch
