In 6th grade math, your child will build important skills that prepare them for higher-level math and real-world problem-solving.

Throughout the year, students will explore five important areas in math that will help them build strong skills and prepare for future learning:

1. Mastering Operations – Students will become fluent in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, decimals, fractions, and integers.

2. Understanding Ratios and Percents – They will learn to use ratios, rates, and percentages to solve everyday problems.

3. Using Expressions and Equations – Students will begin working with algebraic expressions and simple equations to represent and solve problems.

4. Expanding Geometry Knowledge – They will explore area and volume, as well as learn to plot points on the coordinate plane.

5. Developing Statistical Thinking – Students will collect, analyze, and interpret data, helping them understand how statistics are used in real life.

In addition to math content, lessons will also help students strengthen essential life and learning skills. These include critical thinking, communication, reading and writing, teamwork, and the use of technology and media. We aim to help every student apply what they learn in meaningful, real-world ways.
