Our Schools

Secondary Mathematics

In our middle and high schools, the Secondary Mathematics program is designed to help every student build a strong foundation in math and the confidence to apply it in real life. Through engaging lessons and hands-on problem-solving, students learn to ask questions, explain their thinking, and explore different ways to approach a challenge. We believe that every student can be successful in math with the right support, encouragement, and opportunities. Whether they are preparing for advanced courses or building essential life skills, we are committed to helping all students become strong, capable problem-solvers.

Middle Grades Mathematics

In Broward County Public Schools (BCPS), our mathematics classrooms combine strong instruction with innovative technology, including virtual reality, to deepen student learning. Through immersive, experiential activities, students explore math concepts in interactive, real-world contexts that boost engagement and strengthen conceptual understanding. These virtual reality experiences are intentionally paired with teacher-guided instruction and collaborative learning so students can visualize math concepts and make meaningful connections between mathematics and the world around them.

Just as important, our teachers create classrooms where students talk about math, share ideas, explain their thinking, and ask thoughtful questions. This helps students develop real understanding, not just memorize steps.

Our goal is for every student to think flexibly, solve challenging problems with confidence, and be ready for what comes next, whether that is college, a career, or everyday life.

Our goal is to help every student become confident in tackling complex problems and be fully prepared for success in college, careers, and everyday life.

FLDOE PARENT GUIDE FOR MATHEMATICS

The B.E.S.T. Parent Guides for Mathematics assist families in understanding the mathematical concepts being learned and how they can support their students’ progress at home. The guides include key mathematical concepts and skills students will learn each school year, academic terms, practical activities to build mathematical understanding at home and questions families can ask teachers to support their child’s success. Each guide is aligned to Florida’s B.E.S.T. Standards for Mathematics. Please note that the instructional guides will continue to undergo edits as necessary.
