Secondary Visual Arts

The primary goal of the Visual Arts program is to enable students to develop their minds and intellectual capabilities using all forms of creative intelligence. The Visual Arts are an essential part of the curriculum in Broward County Public Schools. Creativity and self-expression are nurtured allowing students to solve problems and think critically. Through an integrated, interdisciplinary approach, the Arts provide a safe environment for the evolution and resolution of ideas. Students are challenged to be active participants in a program with high expectations.

Visual Arts

Students are encouraged to express themselves and use their imagination to solve problems and think critically.
By connecting art with other subjects, the program creates a safe space where students can explore, develop, and share their ideas.

Secondary Art

We offer strong and meaningful visual arts classes, including traditional art and modern digital media.
Students use 21st-century skills to grow their creativity, solve problems in new ways, and take artistic risks. This helps them imagine big ideas and get ready for the global job market.
We support districtwide art shows so secondary students can celebrate their success and earn chances for scholarships.
We also give secondary art teachers chances to learn more, grow as leaders, and share ideas with others.

Three Dimension Zone (3Dz)

The Three Dimension Zone (3Dz) program is a special project that brings together art and technology in fun and exciting ways. Thanks to Congressional funding, schools in the Nova Zone now have 3Dz Labs and a mobile 3Dz Sandbox—cool spaces where students and teachers can explore new tools like 3D printers, smart cutters, and virtual reality (VR) headsets.
These tools aren’t just for science and math—they’re also used in art classes to help students think in new ways and express their creativity. By mixing digital tools with art, students can design, build, and show off their own original projects that use both technical skills and artistic ideas.

Youth Arts Month Celebration

The KC Wright School Board building was decorated with artwork from BCPS schools. The Beachside Montessori Village Chorus performed songs as the students and their families looked at the wonderful artwork by our BCPS students. A short presentation took place honoring our students and BCPS Fine Arts Teachers.

Superintendent's Advanced Academics Studio Art Exhibition

Broward County Public Schools and the Coral Springs Museum of Art are pleased to present the “2026 Superintendent's Advanced Academics Studio Art Exhibition!” The exhibition showcases original artwork of 2025-2026 high school Advanced Academics Studio Art students. The physical exhibition was on view at the Coral Springs Museum in March.

Thank you to the Coral Springs Museum for their continued partnership with Broward County Public Schools, and a special thank you to this year’s judges: Andre Henry, South Plantation High School Retired Art Teacher; Harumi Abe, MFA, South Florida Artist and Art Professor; Vita Litvak, Coral Springs Museum Education and Public Programs Coordinator.
