Registration Information

2025 - 2026 School Year

Requirements:

Students must be 15 years of age on or before the first class session, live in Broward County, and attend a school in Broward County.
Driver's Education classes are for current students only. If a student graduates or withdraws from high school before the start date of a session, they are no longer eligible to participate in the program.
Students are allowed to miss one class, except for the first day. If a student is absent the first day, they will automatically be withdrawn from the program.

Public, Charter and Private School Students

Public, Charter, and Private School Students:

Register through the Driver’s Ed website.

The Driver’s Education program has switched to a lottery-based system as of May 2023 for all Public, Charter, and Private School students. Please see below for the new process of Driver’s Education:

How to register?:

During the registration period (see schedule below), go to the Driver's Education Homepage and click on the registration link. Please note that you will NOT be able to register until the registration period begins. See the schedule below for dates when registration will be open.

Fill out the Microsoft form with the applicant’s (student) information.
Please note, ONLY 1 APPLICATION PER STUDENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. All duplicates will be deleted.
Driver’s Education will process the applications. This usually takes 7 days. Once rosters are finalized, all applicants will receive an email from the Driver’s Education administrator as to the results of the lottery.

Lost Certificate

Once students successfully complete the Driver’s Education course and pass either the Class E Knowledge Exam (learner’s permit) or the Class E Skills Exam (driver’s license), they may visit the DMV to obtain their license. The DMV uses a paperless system, and student records are submitted electronically through the FLHSMV Idemia system.

Before visiting the DMV, we strongly recommend reviewing our Permit and License Testing page to ensure you’re fully prepared and to help avoid any potential issues during your visit. If you encounter any problems at the DMV that cannot be resolved on-site, please contact your test administrator via email. Contact information is provided to students after they successfully pass their exam.

Permit and License Testing

When a student successfully completes Driver’s Ed and passes the Class E Knowledge (learner’s permit) or Skills (License) exam, they can go to their local DMV office to get their learner’s permit or driver’s license following the last day of class. On the occasion a student encounters a problem at the DMV, please follow these helpful hints to mitigate risks of being turned away:
Learner’s Permit: If a DMV agent states that your test result or the Driver Education Traffic Safety (DETS) course is not on your account, please kindly ask for a supervisor and have them contact the FLHSMV Field Support Help Desk to resolve the issue. Explain to the agent and supervisor that you took the BCPS Driver’s Education program, which is part of the DELAP Provider System (Driver’s Education Licensing Assistance Program). That means a third party (BCPS) administered your test and that our program met the state criteria for their DETS course. DMV agents are supposed to be trained on this nuance rule but sometimes aren’t, which is why asking for a supervisor will help resolve this issue.
Driver’s License: If a DMV agent states that your test result is not on your account, please kindly ask for a supervisor and have them contact the FLHSMV Field Support Help Desk to resolve the issue. FLHSMV switched to a new software (IDEMIA) to house the exam results in April 2024. However, DMV agents across the state are having difficulty being able to pull up their records using this new system. Supervisors will have more training on how to pull up your record, which is why asking for a supervisor will help resolve this issue.
If a student is turned away at the DMV after speaking to a supervisor using the helpful hints above, the student must reach out to the instructor who tested them to resolve the issue. If the student has lost the contact information of the teacher who helped administer the test, please reach out to Dillon Giorgis at 754-321-1871 to coordinate this resolution.
