The Power of the Arts in Our Schools

At the Department of Applied Learning, we believe the Arts are an important part of learning and help make our communities better. When students take part in creative activities like music. and theatre, they become more engaged in school and in life. Music & Performing Arts help students express themselves and become thoughtful, active members of society.

Music Education teaches more than just how to play an instrument or sing. It helps students show emotion and be creative. Learning music also builds important skills like hand coordination and reading, which are helpful for learning other subjects like languages and math.

Theatre Education is a special kind of art that can include music, dance, acting, and visual art all in one. Our theatre classes teach acting, directing, stage design, and how to run a theatre program. Students also learn how to use makeup, costumes, lighting, and sets to bring stories to life. These classes help students work together, think creatively, and become strong communicators.

Elementary Music

We want every elementary student to get a good music education, whether it's in general music, performing music, or both.

We support performance opportunities for all types of elementary music.

We also work to give students fair and high-quality ways to show what they’ve learned in music performances.

We want to offer strong and meaningful music classes that include both traditional music and modern styles.
We work to give all student groups the chance to take part in great music performances.

We also support fair and challenging ways to measure how well students perform in music groups.

We aim to help schools grow their music programs by giving them funding and support.
