Driver's Education
Registration for Fall 2025 Driver’s Education will start on August 18th at 8:00 am and conclude on August 22nd at noon. Please see Applied Learning (Academic Electives, Specials & Magnet Programs) / Registration Information (browardschools.com) for more detailed registration information.
Please note, you will not be able to complete the application until it opens on August 18th at 8:00 am.
Important Update: Effective July 1, 2025: In accordance with Senate Bill 994, all teenagers must complete an FLHSMV-approved driver education course before taking the Class E Knowledge Exam to obtain a learner's permit. The BCPS Driver's Education Program meets this requirement through its Driver Education Traffic Safety (DETS) course. Students enrolled in the program are eligible to take the Class E Knowledge Exam directly through BCPS.Broward County Public Schools, with the support of the Dori Slosberg Driver Education Safety Act, provides a Driver's Education program at 11 schools. BCPS's Driver's Education program has a fleet of over 90 vehicles and serves over 2400 students annually
Driver's Education Goals
- Provide a program that ensures the safety of our student drivers
- Mandatory driving in physical cars (not simulators)
- State certification for all instructors
- Provide research and statistics of all student drivers who completed our program

Provide all students who are eligible the opportunity to take the Class E Knowledge (Permit) or Skills (License) exam to get their Learner’s Permit or Driver’s License

To ensure that all students have the opportunity to obtain their learner's permit or driver's license.
Effectively and efficiently teach students traffic laws and defensive driving skills, which ensure safe driving habits that will last a lifetime.
