Athletics

The Broward County Public Schools Athletics Department proudly oversees two major athletic organizations: the Middle School Athletic Association (MSAA) and the Broward County Athletic Association (BCAA). Together, they provide students in grades 6–12 with opportunities to participate in structured, competitive sports programs that promote physical health, academic achievement, and personal growth.

Across all BCAA schools, sports, and sidelines, we operate with a single standard of respect, discipline, pride, and accountability - in competitions, in the stands, in the community. We may wear different colors, but we play under one standard.

Athletic Programs

Middle School Athletic Association (MSAA)

The MSAA supports middle school students through a dynamic and inclusive interscholastic athletics program. Focused on developing young athletes in a safe, respectful, and educational environment, the MSAA emphasizes sportsmanship, integrity, and teamwork. It serves as a foundation for students to gain confidence, stay active, and prepare for high school athletics.

Broward County Athletic Association (BCAA)

The BCAA is the largest high school athletic conference in Broward County and the second-largest in Florida, consisting of 34 member schools (29 public, 3 private, and 2 charter). The BCAA offers 24 varsity sports and is committed to maintaining high standards of academic and athletic excellence. Student-athletes must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA to compete, reinforcing the belief that education comes first.

Each year, the BCAA honors academic and athletic achievement through Scholar Athlete Banquets, recognizing seven students from each school and awarding over $100,000 in scholarships. These athletes exemplify leadership, dedication, and serve as role models in both the classroom and in competition.
