High School Athletics (BCAA)

Broward County Athletic Association (BCAA) is the largest high school athletic conference in Broward County and the second largest in the state of Florida. Operating as a unit of the School Board of Broward County, the BCAA oversees 24 sports programs across its member high schools. The association is composed of 34 schools: 29 public, three private, and two charter schools.

The BCAA places strong emphasis on the educational development of its athletes. The term “student-athlete” reflects the principle that academics come first. All student-athletes are required to maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA to remain eligible for participation. Those who do not meet this academic standard are ineligible to compete.

Each year, the BCAA honors outstanding academic and athletic achievement through its Scholar Athlete Program. Two Scholar Athlete Banquets are held annually, where seven students from each member school are recognized and presented with a commemorative gift. In addition to this recognition, the BCAA awards over $100,000 in scholarships to deserving scholar-athletes. Their names and schools are proudly displayed on the BCAA website for the duration of the school year. These individuals serve as role models, exemplifying dedication both in the classroom and in athletic competition.
