The Economic Development & Opportunities Compliance (EDOC) Department plays a central role in Broward County Public Schools’ commitment to strengthening its supply chain through small and local business utilization in District procurements.

Guided by Policy 3330 – Supplier Diversity Outreach Program, EDOC provides strategic leadership and hands-on support to small, minority, veteran, and women-owned businesses seeking to do business with BCPS. Through outreach, education, and opportunity access, the department advances inclusive procurement practices that help build a stronger, more resilient economic infrastructure across South Florida.

The Economic Development & Opportunities Compliance (EDOC) Department is at the heart of the Broward County Public Schools' commitment to working with local, small businesses as a critical component in the District's supply chain. Under Policy 3330 - Supplier Diversity Outreach Program, EDOC guides small, minority, Veteran, and women-owned businesses through the process of doing business with BCPS to strengthen the economic infrastructure of South Florida.

Brunch & Learn Events

The Brunch & Learn event is designed to educate local businesses on the fundamentals of running a successful operation. We cover essential topics such as marketing, operations, business credit, contracting, and invoicing, all while providing an opportunity to network with fellow business owners over brunch. In addition, we provide participants with the necessary documents and guidance to become certified vendors with the School Board of Broward County. MatchMaker Events

MatchMaker events give niche companies the opportunity to qualify and bid with the School Board of Broward County. This event offers emerging business owners a crucial chance to connect directly with the department issuing the bid, while also providing them with the necessary documents and assistance to help them qualify for the opportunity. Workshops

EDDC Workshops are designed to guide you through the entire process of completing the necessary documents and paperwork. Additionally, we provide on-site, face-to-face notary services to assist with all the steps needed to ensure you are prequalified for a bid. The District Small Business Advisory Committee (SBAC) serves as a strategic partner to the Economic Development & Opportunities Compliance (EDOC) Department, advancing greater participation of small, local businesses in Broward County Public Schools procurement opportunities.

Through policy review, program evaluation, and procedural recommendations, SBAC helps ensure District spending practices drive economic development and expand meaningful opportunities for the small business community.

2023 Disparity Study

The School Board of Broward County, Florida is committed to the fair and equitable distribution of procurement and contracting opportunities. To that end, Keen Independent Research performed the 2023 Disparity Study Report "to provide information for the District to assess whether there continues to be a need for its current policies to assist minority- and woman-owned firms in its contracts."
